#MoyesOut ???

David Moyes could no longer be the right man to lead the rising Hammers

West Ham United manager David Moyes is absolutely in the hot seat– at least according to West Ham fans. After a disappointing loss at Goodison Park to Everton, West Ham sit in 18th place with one win, one draw, five losses, and only four points.

Yes, it's only seven games into a very long season and yes, Goodison Park can be a difficult ground to play at, but these are only excuses.

David Moyes is now running out of excuses.

West Ham are justifiably expected to be doing much better this season.

The Hammers' next three games are absolutely must win games (home vs. Wolves; home vs. Fulham; away at Southampton). If the team fail to get positive results against any of these teams, Moyes has to go.

Since January 2022, West Ham have taken 29 points from 26 games and have a goal differential of negative six in the Premier League. That means a total of 49 points that were up for grabs have been dropped.

What’s really embarrassing is the team’s away record. In all of 2022, West Ham have played 13 games on the road, only winning two of them, drawing one, and losing a whopping 10.

That’s a total of a mere seven points of the 39 on offer.

Moyes and the club have shown that they want to compete with the top dogs, spending the third most amount of money this summer.

The club brought in eight signings, all of who have improved the squad drastically, for a total of 165 million pounds.

With a massive summer window like that, positive results are both demanded and expected. Currently, West Ham are tied with Wolves as the joint-lowest scoring club with only three goals. The team has conceded 9 goals and their starting league goalie Lukasz Fabianski has only one clean sheet.

Moyes continues to play out of form players even though his squad has much more depth. He continues to use a defensive-minded system that has worked in the past, but has now become predictable.

Luckily for him, much of the team’s 2022 pitfalls have been masked by its success in Europe.

The team was knocked out in the semifinals of Europa League by eventual winners Frankfurt in the spring and have been playing in the group stages of the 2022/23 Europa Conference League after finishing 7th in the Premier League last season.

West Ham are currently 4-0 in the competition, winning both legs of their playoff match against Viborg then earning group stage wins against FCSB and Silkeborg.

For West Ham fans, these wins have still been disappointing because of the lackadaisical and disjointed performances against relatively-unknown teams from countries like Denmark and Romania.

If West Ham lose any of their next three matches, David Moyes deservingly be in big trouble and it's incredibly likely that #MoyesOut will be trending on Twitter.

Yes, Moyes has done an excellent job and has brought the club to heights that many could only dream of, but serious questions deserved to be asked of him.

Especially if West Ham want to continue to build on their recent success, reach higher heights, and become a more established club like many are now expecting them to be.
